Sunlight exposure can be avoided by:
  • Covering up with smooth clothing.
  • Avoiding strongest sun.
  • Creating illusion of sun protection by using umbrellas.
  • Use mineral sunscreen Lotion.

Most important way and remedy to be used against sunburn is use of Sunscreen Lotion. Its definitely not a popular opinion and I'm certainly not encouraging you to avoid sunscreen. Yes sunscreen lotion available in the market are not cheap and cost much higher.

Also Many sunscreen lotions contains harmful chemicals causing allergic responses. Some of which are:
  • Oxybenzone- An endocrine disrupting chemical, cause system toxicity, cause photo-allergies.
  • Homosalate: Cause penetration of other harmful ingredients, and enhance absorption of pesticides.
  • Nano-particles:  More chemically reactive and are not properly assessed for human or environmental health effects.
  • Octinoxate: Also a hormone disruptor, causes reproductive toxicity.

Also these chemicals are more persistent in the environment which means it doesn't break down easily.

But with many research one can make it at home by using minerals and many natural ingredients that too having add on natural extracts.

One of which  have found to be much useful.

Homemade sunscreen relies on a physical mineral barrier that stays on the surface of the skin rather that penetrating through as most chemical sunscreens do..

Many of the ingredients used have a natural SPF(Sun Burn Protection Factor).
Now a question arises as what is SPF ? It is a measure of how much UV radiation is required to produce sunburn on skin protected with sunscreen, as compared to unprotected skin. As the SPF level increases, sunburn protection increases.

How Does Sunscreen Works?

Most sunscreen products works based on three principles; Absorbtion, Reflection, or Scattering sunlight. They provide protection from two types of damaging ultraviolet rays; UVA and UVB. Both UVA and UVB can cause sunburns and leads to long term health effects including skin cancers, premature skin aging and other skin irritations.
