A new study with covid-19 patient have found that there occurs Vitamin D deficiency in about 80percent in person with covid-19.


Adequate level of Vitamin D helps in the treatment of covid-19 patient. Also, if the amount of Vitamin D is low, it leads to high level of inflammatory markers like ferritin and D-Dimer.

Recent study have discovered that 80percent of the Covid-19 patient didn't have adequate level of Vitamin D. Thus reduces immunity as Vitamin D have capacity to fight against virus. Also, compared to women, men have low Vitamin D level. 


Not having adequate level of Vitamin D , causes increase in the level of D -Dimer and Ferritin. 

People with co-morbidities such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity are associated with low level of Vitamin D. 

Vitamin D is called as "Sunshine Vitamin", helps in fighting against virus and those with low level of Vitamin D are more severe covid-19 as they have low level of vitamin D circulating in the blood. 

Vitamin D also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. 

Vitamin D is beneficial in raising immune system and make stronger musculoskeletal system.

Having Vitamin D deficiency is also associated with developing upper respiratory tract infections including influenza and coronavirus. 

Vitamin D interferes with the immune cells such as macrophage, B and T lymphocytes, neutrophils and dendritic cells.  

Vitamin D on simulation produces cathelecidine, a peptide which shows anti-bacterial activity against bacteria and enveloped virus such as corona virus.
